Fox 2: St. Louis firefighters return from training in Nairobi, Kenya

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- Five St. Louis City firefighters are back home after a trip to Africa. The group was selected to oversee the first-ever Fire Training Academy in Nairobi, Kenya.

Captain Garon P. Mosby, Captain Larry Conley along with firefighters Jessica Jackson, Jeff Weffelmeyer and Chris Tobin joined Kim Hudson on the 9a.m. with more!

The group spoke about the capacity for learning and absorption rate of the students. They also detailed the challenges they faced as instructors.

The St. Louis Fire Department's mission is to seek opportunities to serve. They partnered with the Africa Fire Mission, a non-profit organization that works to improve the capacity of fire departments across Africa.

The City of Nairobi's population is just under 5 million. They have two fire engines, 1 ladder truck and 156 firefighters.
This training was high on their list of needs.
