Please allow us to reintroduce Fire Captain Larry Conley! Captain Conley, a twenty seven year veteran and decorated member of the STLFD is currently assigned to Truck 13C, covering the Wells/Goodfellow and Hamilton Heights neighborhoods.
Captain Conley is THE example of a public servant. When he's not working at one of the busiest firehouses in #STLCity, he's traveling around the world teaching GLUE; a personal leadership model he created. He is the Camp Director for the Midwest Children's Burn Camp, where he has volunteered for the past seventeen years. He is a Fire Instructor 2, Lead Evaluator for the State of Missouri, President of the Parkway Gardens Neighborhood Improvement Association, and serves on the board of the St. Louis Firefighter's & Community Credit Union as the Supervisory Committee Chairman.
Many firefighters on the job will readily attest to the influence Captain Conley has had on their careers as professional firefighters. The development of Uncle Larry's Playhouse, a Fire Recruit Training program based on excellence, is responsible for the masterful training of more than 250 firefighters. Many of these firefighters have been promoted to Fire Captains and a Battalion Chief. Captain Conley, his brother David, and mother Elaine host the Larry Conley Radio Show on Fire Engineering blog talk radio. The show discusses personal leadership and other topics of interest. He is currently enrolled at Columbia Southern University where he is pursuing a Bachelors in Fire Administration with a Masters in Organizational Leadership.
Most recently, Captain Conley received theInternational Society of Fire Service Instructors2019 Excellence in Instruction Award. The award recognizes the outstanding contributions, achievements and dedication to the fire service through training, education, and instructional excellence and contributions and support to the ISFSI.
St. Louis Blues, thank you for recognizing Fire Captain Larry Conley, a true leader, visionary, and public servant!
